Racial prejudice in all forms such as religious, ethnic and social is a form of violation of the individual human rights. It is ill treated unfairly by individuals and communities to each other. Conversely, tolerance and equality is the perfect picture to treat individuals with each other. A lot of people believe that the practice of racial difference is wrong. Also, there are lots of people who devoted their life to fight until end of racial prejudice and achieve equality such as Malcolm X and Gandhi. Although there are many differences between their life experiences and ways to achieve social equality, there are also many similarities between them.

First of all, Gandhi and Malcolm X were great political figures that made a big difference in the history (Estate of Malcolm X, 2010). They reared in a different ways, and they had a different life experiences. Gandhi was born on 2 October 1869 in Porbandar. Gandhi’s family is one of the most important families in India (Gandhi, 1994). His grandfather and his father were minister of the Principality Porbandar. Therefore, he did not suffer from the racist that it was prevalent in India according to Hinduism religion. His parents gave most attention to him, so he had a happy childhood. Gandhi got married when he was thirteen-years-old, and he moved to London and studied law. After he finished studying and went back to India, he decided to go to South Africa. He had different experience that gave him a great vision of life, people, and societies. He gave his life to defend the values that he believed in. On the other hand, Malcolm X was born on 19 May 1925 in Omaha. (Haley, Malcolm X - An Islamic Perspective, 2001) (A+E Television Networks, LLC, 1996) Malcolm`s family was not any important families of USA. His family was one of the African American families that suffered from the racism that were prevalent in at that time between black and white people in USA. Therefore, his parents were not able to raise him or gave any attention to him. However, he got most of his education when he was in the prison. Losing his parent at early age and entering the prison are the main causes that positively affected on Malcolm X’s personality. Both Gandhi and Malcolm X had different social life, but eventually they learned a lot of things that helped them to achieve their dreams.

Gandhi and Malcolm X also had different path to achieve social equality. Gandhi fought against British rule and achieves social equality. (Salt, 2008) This movement included two parts. Firstly, it was nonviolence. Gandhi led people in the salt march by non-violent. This salt march was against British government on monopoly of salt production. Secondly, it was non-cooperative with British government. Secondly, Gandhi asked Hindu and Muslim not to buy British goods, and not attending British school. Gandhi spent his whole life for eliminating racism, and join different nations together (Mocomi & Anibrain Digital Technologies Pvt. Ltd. , 2011). During the past 30 years of his life, Gandhi called for the social equity in India on the federal constitutional conference. On the other hand, Malcolm X was released from prison in 1952; he dedicated himself to Nation of Islam and became a popular leader of the Nation of Islam. (Clarke, 1991) Also, a lot of people joined to this group. On March 12, 1964, he left the Nation of Islam with the intention of starting his own organization. Malcolm X advocated the complete separation of African Americans from white people. He proposed the establishment of a separate country for black people as an interim measure until African Americans could return to Africa. Malcolm X also rejected the civil rights movement's strategy of nonviolence and instead advocated that black people use any necessary means of self-defense to protect themselves, unlike Gandhi who rejected violence. Therefore, the U.S. government forced to approval his ideas.
Finally, although they had all the differences between Gandhi and Malcolm, there also had a lot of similarity between them (Haley, The Autobiography of Malcom X, 2002). They had similar experiences in their life, and they both spent a certain period of their lives in prison. In addition, they also had similar dreams, they both wanted to become successful lawyers and they wanted to change their life and human rights. However, they encountered unfair treatments, due to the fact that they were both smart men, and they became famous leaders and speakers. Furthermore, they both had strong faith, and there were lots of people following them. People also believed them and respect them. Gandhi and Malcolm X spent their whole life fighting for human rights. They both had great speeches on the human rights and social equity. Unfortunately, they were both shot to death.

In conclusion, although Malcolm X and Gandhi used different methods to make the change, but they both had the same vision on social and human equity. Therefore, they both achieved their dreams.
